Ex Governor loses Ksh.9Million trying import stolen Range rover from UK

An ex-governor has lost at least KSH. 9.9M after it emerged that a Range Rover Vogue they were importing was a stolen vehicle in the UK.

The client made the payment to Reean Motors, a Dubai based importer on 13 April 2023, the vehicle left the UK and arrived in Dubai a month later on 15 May, where it was issued a certificate for shipping.

The vehicle was however impounded in Mombasa after detectives confirming that it had been stolen from London.

"The chasis number displayed on this car is for a 2020 car. The car you have is actually a 2019 model and not 2020. The identity labels are fake but the engine number is genuine. The car was reported stolen in the UK on 21 September 2022," read part of a report by the National Vehicle Crime Intelligence in the UK.

Detectives are now seeking to return the vehicle to the UK where the rightful owner is and has been paying taxes for the stolen vehicle.
