Speaking at Mtihani House, Nairobi, the CS noted that the examination achieved gender equality as boys recorded 50.28 per cent while girls recorded 49.72 per cent.
He added that six papers recorded an improvement in the examinations as compared to the 2020 exams. These include English and composition, Science, Kiswahili and Insha, Social Studies, Kenya sign language composition.
Three papers, Mathematics, English Language, and religious studies recorded a drop as compared to the 2020 exams.

The CS lauded two special needs pupils who managed to score over 400 KCPE marks with Bethany Migosi of Thorngrove Academy, attaining 417 marks.
The CS reaffirmed that his Ministry had produced a flawless examination campaign without any leakage prior to earlier speculations.
He, however, noted that the cases of malpractice that had been caught would be dealt with in the upcoming weeks.
"This year's KCPE is the last examination being released under the Jubilee administration, a regime that has seen a six-year run of the cleanest and flawless national examination campaign," he noted.
Teachers Service Commission (CEO) Nancy Macharia shared Magoha's sentiments, stating that they would take action against the unscrupulous tutors.
"Teachers involved in KCPE examinations conducted themselves with utmost professionalism. We shall take firm action against teachers involved in exam irregularities," she reiterated.
